About Us

At the Miracle of Downs our goal is to educate society on the realization
of how Down syndrome children really are today. They are now
integrated within the school systems and live a very normal and
full-filling life. 25 years ago these children were institutionalized and
were given shock treatment for behavioral problems The fact is these
children are smarter then everyone thinks, only in a different way.
The reason why I started this site was to be an advocate for my son. In
Canada there are not a lot of resources today for Downs children,
especially in small towns.
Considering the Internet has grown world wide, hopefully everyone will
understand Down syndrome and research will become more of a priority,
maybe not to cure...(because I couldn't image Remi any other way...he is
so innocent and pure) but just to be able to understand why some
children have certain very mild effects and some are more severe.
Another one of our goals is to get people involved by understanding
Down syndrome children and their best qualities. We intend to have
links attached to our home page to ensure knowledgeable information is
published. Doctor's who specialize with Down syndrome children,
Centres that work with them and others.
Down syndrome children are one of the most loving kids you will ever
come across in this life time. They need to be understood. By educating
today's society, it will help to bring these children to the fore front.
There is still a huge stigma out there that these children are mentally
retarded. That is not the case by a long shot..and we are here to ensure
that this stigma is eliminated.
