Donations
for Remi

Remi's journey with the Federal Government of Canada has not been
a easy one. Due to their guidelines with income, Remi has been
deprived of services available to him. We are classified as a middle
class family because the government chooses to go by your "gross
amount" not our actual take home pay.
We have federal, provincial, Canada pension and unemployment
insurance that is deducted by law. For example, at the end of the day
what looks like $20,000 to them, is actually $15,000 to the "middle
class" family if not lower.
Effective March 2007 "Ontario Disability" Children with Severe
Disabilities will no longer provide for Remi.
Not that he was getting that much in the first place.
The Government does not understand the costs involved, with for one
an incontinence child, and many other needs.
He cannot even go into a daycare program to help him adjust to
going to school every day next year because we have to pay full price
and pay for an Educational Assistant to be with him.
The Government's 2007 Budget was published in March. I was in
tears when I read that they were investing 140 million (see below) for
kids like Remi and he doesn't qualify because he has 2 working
parents who also pay child care costs. I know Remi will have greater
struggles when he gets older, but right now all I can do as a mother is
try to fight for him.
Please make a donation to help the "Rights of Remi" he should have
the same treatment as every other child.
Federal Government 2007 Budget
Investing in Canadians
Canadians who care for persons with severe disabilities face unique financial hardships. Based on the
recommendations of the Expert Panel on Financial Security for Children with Severe Disabilities,
Budget 2007 proposes to invest $140 million over the next two years (rising to $200 million a year) to
establish a Registered Disability Savings Plan.
This measure will provide these parents with greater peace of mind regarding the financial security of
their loved ones when they can no longer care for them.
